Internet Marketing really boils down to two things:
1. Creating content
2. Promoting content
All I have to do is look at your inventory of content and I’ll know how you’re really doing online. Why do I say this?
If you take a look at your marketing/sales funnel online it probably looks kinda like this:
Traffic –> Leads -> Sales
In case you’re not familiar with the term funnel as it relates to marketing:
I refer to it as a path you orchestrate, like a dance, that turns complete strangers visiting your website (ideally you use a landing page) into leads and customers…
…then repeat customers…
…then finally a brand evangelist that shares your business with others via referrals and even selling your products as an affiliate or member of your referral program.
A funnel allows you to control your customer acquisition and repeat it again and again for ultimate business growth.
If you’d like to learn more about funnels and how implementing one in your business can be life changing, click here to discover my effortless business growth system, the Funnel Vision Method.
Now, if you look closer at attracting traffic to your offers, what does that REALLY entail?
If you answered content…you were right.
Content precedes traffic so now your sales process looks like this:
– Blog posts
– Social media posts
– Articles
– Videos
– E-books
– Coupons
– Webinars
– Courses
– Brochures – > Advertising
The content is what you promote in your advertising. Content is what you share on your blog, Social Media and YouTube. The list goes on …
So now your marketing/sales funnel looks like this.
Content -> Advertising -> Traffic -> Leads -> Sales
Follow me here… without content, I don’t care if you’re promoting a physical product or a service-based product, you’re marketing/sales funnel is going to resemble this:
Product/Service -> Content -> Advertising -> Traffic -> Leads -> Sales
This applies to you even if you’re selling on eBay. I went into how eBay works yesterday. Click here if you missed that article.
Today I want to explore Product Creation. If you think that finding a profitable market is difficult, think again.
Did you know that using your innate talents, skills and hobbies can help you earn a generous income online?
Through an Internet business model known as…drum roll…please…
Badabadbababa!
Info-Product Creation.
You’ll be able to start your own business, increase your income and have fun doing it!
What Is Info-Product Creation?
Product creation can be deployed in several ways.
One is selling eBooks.
These online books can be about almost anything.
With your creative mind and writing skills, you can write instructional, informative e-books that your readers can purchase.
If you’re into trivia, history or current events, your skills can still be useful in writing e-books for people to read and purchase.
You can also create video and audio courses to sell online. Again, product creation is all about the creation of content that you can distribute using various media.
And then you’ll create even more content to help promote it. For instance, teasers you can post on your website and/or social networking sites to entice people to read, watch, listen and purchase your audio or video courses.
What’s more, you can expand into selling your own software. If you can’t do the programming yourself you can look for new talent on Upwork.com and other similar freelance sites.
Freelance sites are great for pairing employers and job seekers fast.
How to Start an Internet Business Using the Product Creation Model
You can launch this type of business by following the three steps below, that’ll help you create the perfect products to sell online.
Step 1. Invest in your strengths. Create a list of the technical and Internet related skills at which you excel. Next, write down all the things you enjoy doing such as baking, writing, blogging or photo editing.
If you’re good at marketing and developing programs that organize and edit pictures, these skills would help you set up your new Internet based business.
Step 2. Narrow down your list and come up with a plan of action for market research. Once you understand your market’s wants and needs, create your product (in a later article I’ll discuss methods for product creation).
Step 3. Once you’ve chosen the market you want to serve and created the product you want to sell, it’s time to develop a strategy to attract more leads and customers.
One way is to post your products on your website and drive traffic to it with Facebook, YouTube and Google Ads (I’ll cover traffic generation in-depth in later articles).
PRO TIP: Offer bonuses as extra enticement, if possible.
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Product Creation Model
I like product creation because you can turn your knowledge and skillset into an asset you can monetize again and again. Unlike Affiliate Marketing where you share in the revenue with a merchant, here you collect all the profit from your efforts.
Also, product creation is highly scalable. You don’t have to worry about inventory or hiring more labor.
For instance, when I bring on a new client for my digital marketing agency, Dahl Integration Marketing, there’s a massive amount of labor costs and time invested, just in the onboarding process.
There’s a lot of moving parts when it comes to hiring good people. And if you’re growing a service business fast finding the best talent at the right price can be a major bottle neck in business growth.
A product creation business, generally speaking, has less of these labor challenges. You’re fulfilling on product digitally so there’s less costs associated with its delivery.
The biggest downside to product creation is the time and risk of bringing a new product to market.
You don’t want to spend 6 months to a year developing your product only to have it bomb when you launch!
