I don’t have to make cold calls anymore. And with this information you’ll know what’s possible so you can take steps to never have to make cold calls either.
You know the drill.
Make a list of 100 warm contacts.
The old school sales trainers tell us to make a list of everyone we know then contact them to “share” our products or services. This is one of the things that gives salesmanship a bad rap. And can you blame your friends and family for not being excited about you trying to “sell” them your product or service?
I don’t go to network mixers anymore.
You know the drill.
Spend all your free time at network mixers in hopes that you meet a client.
I remember going to network mixers at least 2-3 times a week. The problem I kept running into is that the true decision-makers rarely attend these network mixers themselves. 9 out of 10 times I’d end up befriending a sales person that needed to satisfy quota that month. Then they’d call me twice a day for the remainder of that month.
Turn the tables.
Try to sell me something.
And sometimes they did!
Then, flash forward to my successful sales career. I took a technology consulting company from scratch, to 12 employees. And half a million dollars in a down local market, here in Eugene. We started the company back in 2008. Just when the economy was going down.
No joke.
I spent the first year going door to door, B2B.
Can you imagine … cold calling?
Wow!
What a grind.
But now. I can rest easy and enjoy life as leads come pouring in. No more cold calling for me. Crazy, just yesterday I received a New Lead notification via iPhone.
Get this … I was just getting out of bed!
